While working in the Veterinary field I found myself very interested in the post operative care of critical patients. I found that I had a special interest in Animal Rehabilitation. I am a Qualified Veterinary Nurse (University of Pretoria) and a CCRP ( University of Tennessee) . Animal Rehabilitation became an absolute passion for me. I saw how it made a significant difference to the quality of life to all the patients I treated. It is a technique used to support surgery and medical care for animals. I feel that it builds the relationship between pet and owner by bringing awareness to the owner of their pets needs. It brings me such happiness to see my patients return to function. My Goal is to provide support to my patients and make a difference to their quality of life.

Hi! I’m Sherry, I am a valuable member of the Ramsay Rehab Team and this is my Story.... My Journey started with my own Beautiful Dog! She had to have a limb amputation and we started her Rehab Journey together. Wow! I noticed such a difference in her! I believe rehab really kept her strong and able to do anything! Rehab became an essential part of our lives. That is what got me wanting to help other dogs just like her! I wanted to give the owners and their dogs a place to come and know that their dogs are getting the best care and love and that’s why I know our Centre, Ramsay Rehab is the best! I have my qualification in CCBW ( canine body worker)and will soon qualify as a CCRP( certified canine rehabilitation practitioner) in December 2019. Next Year, I intend to complete a hydrotherapy diploma. I Believe this is only the start for me. I will continually strive to provide the best possible care and quality of Life and well being for Dogs!

The love I have for animals runs deep in my veins. With my 3 rescue babies (yes, my babies), I have learned that you do not need to have a pet from puppy or kitten for them to grow to love you. All 3 of my babies were rescued when they were fully grown and I realised that at no matter what age they are, if they learn to trust you, they will love you unconditionally and that is an amazing gift. My greatest joy in life is seeing an animal truly happy and deeply loved. The sweetest thing I find in life is when a human goes out of their way to help an animal in need and it is for this reason why I am so lucky and truly grateful to be working as part of such an amazing team at Ramsay Rehab. I have witnessed so many miracles coming and going and the bond that these animals develop with their therapist is truly astounding. There are no words to describe the true joy it brings when you see a pet being able to fully function again. I am the “behind the scenes and go-to person”, but as a team, we make a big difference in the lives of those that love us unconditionally.

$Animal Rehabilitation is very important not only in surgery cases, but is also used in the training of sports and working dogs. Dogs with specific problems like obesity, osteoarthritis, as well as old age can benefit from Rehabilitation. Patients that undergo surgery can benefit specifically from rehabilitation such as fractures, rupture of the cruciate ligaments, as well as neurological conditions that have changes to cartilage, bone, muscle tendons and ligaments. Did you know? Dogs may lose one third of their muscle mass in the hind limb following surgery for a cranial cruciate ligament rupture and it can take over a year to regain the lost muscle tissue.$

Candice made such a huge difference in my little Aslan's life. He has hip dysplasia on both sides, as well as arthritis. Dr had recommended an operation but we decided against it. I was then referred to Candice, and ever since she's been treating him, he hardly had a bad day. No more pain meds or him just lying down and be in pain. Thank you for that, you have made him such a happy little boy. If you see him running around and playing, you will never know that he has so much problems, and we as people are always complaining. Ramsay Rehab is unlike and other physio we have tried. Candice’s passion and in-depth knowledge of each dogs unique needs is what sets her practice apart from any other. Hunter has implants in both knees and an auto-immune condition, through working with his surgeon and primary vet, Candice has helped him gain strength and muscle mass in his hind legs as well as confidence. His physio sessions are not only beneficial but fun and rewarding for him thanks to the energy and passion Candice brings to her job. I had tried two other physio practices before and was about to give up when i finally took him to a session at Ramsay Rehab and we haven't looked back. He would not be able to achieve the growth he has done without Ramsay Rehab and I credit all his success to Candice and her assisting therapists at Ramsay Rehab.
